Grind waste cleaning
The grinder needs to be cleaned occasionally
A waste disposer is essentially a maintenance-free machine that does not need to be specially cleaned. Since it doesn't have any blades inside, there is no need to sharpen or replace anything.
Cleaning is done by crushing itself and then rinsing the crusher with a stream of water. If it is necessary to clean the crusher from deposits and grease, a longer brush and Cif or a similar product will suffice. You can also use ice cubes, lemon zest, and baking soda. This combination will clean, degrease, and deodorize the crusher.
On the e-shop weltservis.cz (link), you can also find special cleaning products from the USA, which were developed specifically for garbage disposals. The practical packaging will facilitate all maintenance and your garbage disposal will receive the best care.
Under no circumstances should you use aggressive chemicals such as lye, Savo, or Krtek for cleaning! These substances can damage the internal seals of the garbage disposal, causing leaks and subsequent damage to the electrical components of the garbage disposal. Repair can then be very costly and often not worth it.
Like any machine, the shredder wears out over time. The lifespan of the shredder is ideally estimated to be 10-15 years. After that, it may still be functional, but it will probably be louder and will strain when shredding. It may also trip the thermal fuse more frequently or jam.
